A quick glance at the graphic below shows that "President" Bush is popular only when he appears to be carrying
out his War on Terror.
Last week, just days before his approval rating in the Gallup Poll hit a new low of
49%, a U.S. military spokesman declared his
certainty that a new "spring offensive" along the Afghanistan-Pakistan
border will result in the
capture of Osama bin Laden. That sure would come just in the nick of time, with the election coming up and all. Especially when you consider that the
commission that has been conducting an inquiry into how 9/11 happened is also due to release its report this spring and it
will definitely contain some real unfortunate information from Bush's perspective.
Forgive our cynicism, but we can't help wondering whether Mr. Spokesman's suicidally-dangerous prediction doesn't mean
they already know exactly where Osama is and have been waiting to time the capture just right.
